Regulation
Chances are you have been listening to music all your life
and you know if your piano needs tuning. Pianos lose their
tune during change of seasons, others because they are
played frequently by one or more players with different
playing styles, still others because they are not played
enough, or at all. Through your lifelong music listening, your
ear is trained more than you realize.
For a detailed description on piano tuning, please read what
I have written under the page.

Like all machines, pianos need occasional adjusting. Each
key has six to twelve different adjustments. Often one
adjustment will affect several adjustments. Over a period of
time the action of a piano becomes less efficient and needs
something similar to a tune up in a car. These adjustments
are known as regulating. Regulation is the adjustment of the
mechanical aspects of the pianos to compensate for the
effects of wear, the compacting and settling of cloth, felt, and
buckskin, as well as dimensional changes in wood and
wood parts due to changes in humidity. Minor adjustments
are made when needed at almost every tuning.
Voicing
Voicing refers directly to the density of felt at the striking point
of the hammer. This effects tone. Most tonal qualities are
inherent in the construction of the piano. Proper voicing of
hammers can make an amazing difference in the sound of
any piano.
Repair
Without proper servicing, a piano can wear out. Occasionally,
a part or a string breaks. Thankfully, most repairs can be
accomplished at the time a piano is tuned. In some cases a
part must be ordered and the repair can be completed after
the part has been received.

Assessment/Appraisal
Clients know what they want, see what they want, but allot of
times want a second opinion both in terms of the piano itself
and then the value. Sometimes it is as easy as a telephone
call to answer your inquiry, however arrangements can be
made to assist you directly.
